Personal Survival Techniques (PST)
This practical course teaches the core skills needed to survive at sea in an emergency. You’ll cover the correct use of lifejackets and immersion suits, emergency actions before abandoning ship, and safe techniques for entering the water and boarding survival craft. You’ll also learn how to increase your chances of rescue using signalling and survival principles.

Fire Prevention & Fire Fighting (FPFF)
Learn how onboard fires start, how they spread, and how to prevent them through safe routines and good housekeeping. The course covers fire theory, detection systems, and the correct selection and use of firefighting equipment. You’ll also practise safe response actions, including teamwork, communications, and controlled firefighting techniques in realistic scenarios.

Elementary First Aid (EFA)
Designed for seafarers, this course focuses on the immediate first aid response to common onboard injuries and medical emergencies. You’ll learn how to assess a casualty, manage bleeding, burns, fractures and shock, and provide basic life support where required. Emphasis is placed on practical, calm decision-making and casualty care until professional help is available.

Personal Safety & Social Responsibilities (PSSR)
This course covers the essential safety behaviours and responsibilities expected of crew working at sea. You’ll learn about emergency procedures, onboard hazards, accident prevention, safe working practices, and effective communication in a multicultural team. It also includes an understanding of fatigue, welfare, and professional conduct as part of a safe shipboard environment.

Proficiency in Security Awareness (PSA)
This course introduces the key principles of maritime security and your role in maintaining a secure vessel. You’ll learn how to recognise potential threats and suspicious activity, follow onboard security procedures, and understand the importance of reporting and communication. It also covers security awareness in day-to-day operations, including basic cyber awareness and personal responsibilities under ship security measures.
