Accidents can happen when you least expect them — even on the water. While serious incidents afloat are thankfully rare, knowing how to respond with confidence makes all the difference.
The RYA First Aid Course is designed specifically for those who spend time on or around the water. Unlike general first aid training, this one-day classroom course focuses on the unique challenges of giving first aid at sea, on rivers, estuaries, or inland waterways.
Delivered by experienced instructors with real boating backgrounds, the course covers:
- CPR and drowning protocols
- Bleeding and head injuries
- Cold water shock and hypothermia
- Onboard first aid kits
- Requesting medical assistance via marine radio
A little knowledge goes a long way — ideally, every crew member should take this course. In an emergency, it’s not easy for one person to helm, navigate, call for help, and administer first aid at the same time.
This MCA-approved qualification meets the requirements for RYA Coastal Skipper, Yachtmaster, and Advanced Powerboat Certificates of Competence, as well as for certain categories of commercial endorsement.
